David S Ware Quartet - Live in Vilnius

This isn't just a gem, it should be a classic. By far and away Ware's most solid quartet, this is a recording of their last show together. Just freaking superb.
It is odd that this was released by some dude in Lithuania. Don't get me wrong, he has a handful of fantastic releases in his catalog. It's just that he only released 1000 pressings of this lp and there are still some available.
When three people who have all released critically acclaimed records get together you have the potential for a clash of wills, that ends up muddled in mediocrity. Except in jazz. These guys revel in playing together, pushing each other. Ofttimes the live recordings overshadow the studio performances. As much as I love this band on Surrendered...this for me is the epitome of their recordings.

I love the music you post. i have a lot of the old vinyl. However, I am very excited about the David S. Ware. I've seen the band live quite a few times. Always exciting. Thanks again.

Hookfinger your generosity in sharing this music is greatly appreciated. The net is awash with sites that provide the same pirated music however the quality sites such as yours that are clearly driven out of respect for the music are priceless. Particularly when the uploads are from treasured albums. This David S Ware set contains some deep playing, it will take some time to fully digest.

Thanks, Hook. A friend turned me on to Ware several years ago. Caught a great live set here in Paris during the Jazz Festival.

Thank you very much. This music is amazing. I had seen the last U.S. show by the quartet which was at the Visionfestival a few months before this performance.

They made that show into a C.D. and perhaps that explains why this wonderful music was given the limited edition vinyl only treatement.

There is just so much to listen to here. They really spur each other on even in the quiet sections.
